Student Handbook 2008-2009
The purpose of the Student Code of Conduct is to provide students general notice of prohibited behavior at Denison University. This code is not written with the specificity of a criminal statute, but is instead rooted firmly in the University's values and based on the premise that each student should act with unconditional respect toward other persons and their property. Without that kind of mutual respect and trust, the community cannot thrive as a place of liberal learning.
When the community's standards are violated, the University can impose sanctions on students who are responsible for those violations. Sanctions are intended to educate students about the seriousness of their actions and restore the standards of the university community. They are designed to promote civility and positive growth while maintaining the safety and integrity of other individuals.
