Computer scientists study the inherent complexity of computational problems, and design efficient algorithms to solve them. At Denison, we emphasize the enduring core principles of computer science, and how they can be applied to a vast array of interdisciplinary problems in the natural and social sciences, and the arts.
Upsilon Pi Epsilon is the first and only existing international honor society in Computer Science. The main goals of UPE are to recognize outstanding talent and promote high scholarship in computer science.
Denison's chapter (Delta of Ohio) of UPE was chartered in September, 2000.
Each Spring, we invite a small number of students to be inducted into Upsilon Pi Epsilon. To be considered, a student must:
have taken at least 5 Computer Science courses (18 credits)
have at least a 3.5 GPA in their Computer Science courses
have at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA
be in the upper 35% of Computer Science majors in their class
