The major in Cinema is designed for the serious student who is interested in the history, theory, and production of film and video as art forms. Students learn the process of producing creative works of cinema utilizing both film and digital equipment. The goals of the major are to provide students with a working knowledge of the principles of production in connection with an understanding of Cinema as an art form.
Grenier will show recent work on digital video at 8 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 30. While many experimental filmmakers of his generation, steeped in analog (16mm) filmmaking, have resisted digital, Grenier has embraced it.
Richard Tuohy, an Australian experimental filmmaker dedicated to celluloid film and handmade filmmaking processes, will discuss his work from 1:30-2:50 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 14, and will screen his work that evening at 8 p.m.
