Fall 2016 Visiting Alumni

Four alumni with diverse film careers will return to Denison this fall.

The Department of Cinema is pleased to welcome back three visiting alumni throughout the fall semester. The alumni will visit classes, meet with students, and hold screenings of their recent film work.

Mo Stemen ’07: September 26-30
Stemen has been working freelance in LA for the past eight years. She has been the assistant production coordinator on several feature films including, ‘Interstellar’ (Nolan, 2014), ‘Annabelle’ (Leonetti, 2014), and ‘By the Sea’ (Jolie, 2015). She most recently worked on ‘Live by Night,’ directed by Ben Affleck, which is scheduled for release in 2017.

Kurt Vincent ’06: November 7-9
Vincent directed the documentary feature ‘The Lost Arcade,’ which explores the history and community surrounding the Chinatown Fair – a legendary NYC arcade. The film was an official selection in the International Film Festival Rotterdam, and made its US theatrical premiere this September.

The Lost Arcade’ will screen on Monday, November 7 in Slayter Auditorium at 7:30pm.
A Q&A with Vincent will follow the screening.

Free and open to the public.

Matthew Hamachek ’03: December 6-7
Hamachek is an award-winning documentary film editor whose recent work includes ‘Cartel Land’ (Heineman, 2015) and the Netflix-original documentary ‘Amanda Knox’ (McGinn & Blackhurst, 2016), which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival this September. Hamachek edited, co-wrote, and co-produced ‘Amanda Knox.’

Amanda Knox’ will screen Tuesday, December 6 in Slayter Auditorium at 7:30pm.
A Q&A with Hamachek will follow the screening.
