New faces in Ebaugh's classrooms and labs

This fall, the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry is pleased to welcome two visiting faculty members for the 2014-2015 academic year.

Each fall brings the excitement and energy of new students discovering how to be in their element in the classrooms and labs of Ebaugh Laboratories. This fall, the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry is also pleased to welcome two visiting faculty members for the 2014-2015 academic year. This semester Dr. Sonia Hirschauer is teaching Chemisty 251: Intermediate Organic Chemistry. Dr. Hirschauer graduated with her Ph.D. in organic chemistry from the Ohio State University. She studied boronate ureas as enhanced hydrogen bond donor organocatalysts. Originally from California, Dr. Hirschauer did her undergraduate work at University of Arizona in Biochemistry and Molecular Biophysics. In her free time, Dr. Hirshauer enjoys reading, running, watching movies and cheering on the University of Arizona Wildcats and the Ohio State Buckeyes.

Dr. Yu Liu is teaching Chemistry 131: Atoms and Molecules this semester. Dr. Liu completed his Ph.D. in organic chemistry at the University of Maryland, College Park where he studied brightly colored diazo compounds. Dr. Liu joins the department after postdoctoral work synthesizing biologically relevant molecules at the University of Delaware. Dr. Liu is originally from Xi’an, China and received his BS in Chemistry from Peking University in Beijing.
